To meet the challenge of growth and opportunities, [Company] is seeking additional Software Engineers to join the engineering team.

PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will have direct responsibility for new product development projects and the processes that bring them to fruition. A Software Engineer takes ownership of the full software life cycle from concept capture through end-of-life deprecation. Planning and process monitoring throughout the software life cycle are integral to the position’s responsibilities, as are specification, coding and QA/QC of product.

Embedded real-time software systems, communications, embedded databases, and human interfaces are all aspects of [Company]’s core competency in software engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to this broad range of software engineering disciplines. Excellence in customer communication is paramount to success in this role.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
This position embodies the following primary duties:

- Work with customers, both within [Company] and end users, to define and capture software requirements.
- Design and develop the software subsystems of new products and updates to existing products.
- Actively participate in the software QA/QC/acceptance process.
- Take ownership of and maintain existing software subsystems.
- Assist the company general leaders in enhancing the software development process.
- Provide third tier triage product technical support.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & EDUCATION:
- Baccalaureate or Masters Degree in electrical or computer engineering, or computer science – Required.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in full software lifecycle development from concept capture through end-of-life – Required.
- A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in embedded real-time software development — Required.
- Practical skill in design and construction of useful, real-world items – Required.
- Experience with industrial data communication protocols such as MODBUS/TCP and SNMP – Desired.
- Expertise with project management and defect management tools – Desired.
- Experience with Windows and Linux application development – Desired.
- Working knowledge of open-source components, e.g., PHP, MySQL, Python, etc – Desired.

WORK LOCATION:
- Home office based, using company provided broadband internet, VOIP telephony and other telecommuting tools.
- Telecommuting office must be located in USA, preferably midwest or east central.
- Occasional need to work at customer site for short periods, for example during system integration and acceptance, or when providing consultancy services.
