[Company] is looking for an experienced PHP developer for a contract position starting immediately to help build an enterprise web-based software system with Symfony and other technologies. This is a remote position and could become a contract-to-hire opportunity. The position calls for a reliable and punctual developer, with strong written and verbal communication skills. The initial contract will be for 3 months, with a likely extension after that.

Required skills for this position are:

* Advanced PHP 5 skills
* Experience with Symfony, or a similar OO/MVC PHP framework like CakePHP, Joomla!, or Zend Framework
* Strong understanding of OOP and MVC
* Familiar with web application security
* Understanding of semantic HTML and CSS

Additional useful skills include:

* Expertise with JavaScript, especially jQuery
* Experience working with open source projects and communities
* Comfortable with Linux, SSH and the command line environment
* Apache httpd web server
* Experience with building or implementing ReSTful web services
* SQL skills and MySQL experience
* Experience with version control, particularly Subversion
