The [COMPANY NAME] seeks an individual with demonstrated experience to work with the Montana team. Position is part time. Primary responsibility will be the coordination and fund-raising of the Tour de Cure Montana, the [COMPANY NAME]‘s signature cycling event, with a fundraising goal of $200,000 in 2012.
Job duties include the following:
- Recruit high-level volunteers for leadership of the Tour de Cure
- Recruit high-level corporate sponsors for the event
- Retain and recruit riders and volunteers for the Tour de Cure
- Recruit new corporate and family/friends teams along with building current teams
- Manage participants to achieve their maximum potential in fund-raising, team building and understanding of diabetes and the ADA
- Secure in-kind donations for day of event (i.e. food, entertainment, giveaways, etc.)
- Build the Tour de Cure committee, facilitate committee and subcommittee meetings
- Ensure succession planning for leadership in key positions for the event
- Year round preparation for ‘day of event’ and execution of logistics (i.e. site layout, securing rest stop locations and respective sponsors, working with the various counties to secure necessary permits, etc.)
- Secure marketing and promotional materials for the event (i.e. newspaper ads, flyers, posters, lunch and learns, etc.)
**Position is home-based. PT hours (20 hrs/week). Eligible for benefits**
Job Requirements
- BA/BS or equivalent in experience
- 3 to 4 years experience in progressively responsible positions event management, sales, fund raising and program activities.
- Sales experience, including cold calling
- Excellent relationship building skills required
- Strong oral and written presentation skills
- Must know how to close sales & confirm mutual understandings
- Manage volunteer participation to successful outcomes
- Must be team oriented & pay attention to detail
- Manage multiple activities, and communicate the vision of the ADA to ensure successful events
- Must have experience in working with people of diverse backgrounds
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent internet skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds (position requires moving, carrying and transporting event objects and materials)
- Must have MT State drivers license
