Looking to hire an accomplished software developer as an independent contractor. Candidate must be motivated, analytical, capable of self-management, working quickly and within a small team. Can do some work from home, but will need to frequent our office in Newton, MA.

The software development environment is largely oriented around Open Source software. The front-end is a web-based application which makes heavy use of Javascript via the ExtJS library. The back-end is a LAMP stack: a MVC framework with Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.

We have immediate needs in several project areas, including:

Designing report templates under Eclipse BIRT (similar to Crystal Reports) to consume an XML data file and produce a PDF-based report.

Writing PHP scripts to extract data from a MySQL database and write the results to file in XML format.

Familiarity with JSON, AJAX, CSS, Zend Framework, RedHat Linux, Bash scripting, Subversion, Virtual Machines (vmware) is also helpful.
