Description

Candidate must be proficient in at least two languages: Arabic, Armenian, Azeri, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Croatian, Czech, Danish, English, Farsi, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, and Vietnamese

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Monitor the progression of global H5N1, avian influenza and other infectious disease events using publicly available news media.

· Provides clients with real-time information as it relates to the clients specific media needs.

· The Media Monitoring analyst will provide 24-hour real time media monitoring service in support of clients.

· Read and analyze various open and proprietary RSS feeds including the AP and AFP news wires services and send Alerts to clients based on a pre-defined methodology.

· Support communication between team members around the globe and support programs as needed.

· Use of state-of-the-art internet crawling technologies to search for references to biological threats.

· Provide written reports of significant events to his/her senior analyst for potential posting on the Watchboard.

· Will require to work independently and as part of a group.

· Conduct infectious disease surveillance for various regions, with attention to the historical, economic, sociopolitical, and cultural characteristics of the regions.

· Provide task support to other regions or with reporting non-biological events as needed.

· Attend an internal training program, which will provide him or her with the necessary skills to utilize software tools, follow standard operating procedures and understand the disease surveillance methodology.

· Collect, vet, contextually interpret, and disseminate relevant foreign internet based open source information of selected topics.

· Enter or extract various types of data into/from computer databases, in accordance with established guidelines and collects multiple types of open source media (not limited to html, audio, video, globs, and social media) in native languages using state-of-the-art web crawling technologies.

· Collect products which are timely, accurate, relevant, and responsive to customer needs.

· Support the definition of requirements for data collection and data analysis.

· Support data sharing. The analyst should be capable of working independently or w/a team.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
* Bachelor?s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, or related field preferred
* Five or more years of national security experience
* Experience working with various weapons systems
* Experience working with U.S. and NATO nuclear weapons infrastructure
* Experience working with local, state, or national security policies and procedures
* Possess security clearance
