Associate Content Specialist (oakland lake merritt / grand) [CA]

A small, rapidly growing virtual agency is looking for an associate content specialist. The role will involve copywriting/content development, editing, research and analysis for a wide variety of clients across many different industries, including healthcare, technology, retail and financial services.

We are looking for a versatile team player who is able to jump between different kinds of projects nimbly, who thinks strategically and can find creative solutions to business problems for our clients. Web content experience, including a basic understanding of SEO, is required.

About the company:
We are a very small company, but growing fast. We specialize in content strategy, content marketing, marketing communications, and end-to-end digital project management, and our story is resonating! Our clients include B2B corporations and professional services companies (healthcare, technology, financial services, etc.) as well as small and medium-sized businesses and digital and advertising agencies. We recently rebranded the company and are stable and growing, with a wide variety of projects across industries, media channels and subject matters. You’ll definitely never be bored.

20 hours a week to start, with the potential to become full-time with full benefits within 6 months. The position will be on-site in download Oakland in the beginning, with possible transition to virtual office if desired. We are family-friendly and flexible, but expect accountability and dedication in return.

This is not a contract or freelance position – position would start as a part-time, salaried W2 employee and transition to full-time with benefits. If you are looking for consulting opportunities, please do not apply.

Responsibilities:
- Provide copywriting for broad variety of projects: web content, email marketing, white papers, brochures, case studies, sales sheets, PowerPoint decks, video scripts, ads, program guides, etc.
- Provide substantive editing and copy editing
- Manage review cycles and consolidate client feedback as necessary
- Collaborate with team to develop creative direction of projects
- Conduct project research: SEO keyphrase research, content analyses, competitive analyses, article and white paper research
- Support company marketing activities: blogging, social media, content marketing, email newsletter

Capabilities and characteristics:
- 3-5 years of experience in marketing copywriting and/or communications, in-house or in an agency setting
- Journalism, PR, or communications background or similar penchant for messaging and storytelling desired
- Demonstrated ability to switch easily between B2B and B2C
- Experience with digital content, including understanding of SEO copywriting
- Versatile and flexible; able to switch gears quickly and manage a lot of moving pieces with grace
- Very strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing to clients and team
- Experience working with designers to ensure harmony between writing and design
- Self-starter — you would literally be Employee No. 3, not counting freelancers, so it’s critical that you be someone who can take initiative and work independently
- Can-do, positive attitude absolutely essential
